Members of The Gideons International personally witness and distribute God’s Word to police, fire, and medical personnel; prisoners; military personnel; students in the fifth grade and above; and to those with whom they interact on a daily basis. Scriptures are also placed by Gideons and Auxiliary in key locations, including hotels, motels, hospitals, convalescent homes, medical offices, domestic violence shelters, prisons, and jails.

Disciples Of All Nations

The Gideons International began distributing the Word of God in 1908. Today, there are more than 269,500 Gideons and Auxiliary – and an untold number of supporters – in some 200 countries, territories, and possessions across the globe. We are a body of believers dedicated to making the Word of God available to everyone and, together with the local church, reaching souls for Christ.

“The Hearts Of Flesh Ministry Is A Non-Denominational Ministry, Structured So That You Can Meet Regularly With Your Mentor (typically weekly or whatever your schedule will allow), Using The Bible As Well As Other Resources Which Help In Your Walk With God.” The Only Requirement Is That You Are A Christian Who Believes That The Holy Bible Is The Inspired Word Of God And Consequently, Is The Absolute Truth.

There is no cost to become a Hearts of flesh disciple other than an occasional book/workbook.

We Are All Sinners

Even as long-term Christians, we know what it is like to struggle with sin, even today, as Paul speaks extensively about it in Romans 7. Because of that, the real advantage of having a mentor is to be able to observe him/her as they deal with temptation and discuss with you how obedience to God is hard but well worth the effort. Let’s look at three of the many important objectives we plan to achieve with our Hearts Of Flesh disciples.

Fostering Commitment1

A commitment to Christ says God will be in control of your whole life. Nothing will be held back. Without commitment, the discipling relationship won’t really get into important issues. It will always be a “social hour” and a “feel good” time.

Developing Character1

One of the goals in discipling another person is to instill character in him so he will live by strong principles. Absolute truth does exist and we can trust God’s Word to be true. Character is established by putting His principles into practice.

Knowing God’s Will1

The Lord’s will isn’t some sort of secret that’s hidden from us. In Ephesians 1 Paul says that “God works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will”. It doesn’t make sense for God to hide the very thing He wants us to accomplish. God is there guiding and speaking to us through His Holy Spirit, mostly using Scripture. That’s why daily Bible reading is an essential part of being a disciple.
